Our Tea

FULL-BODIED AND ORIGINAL

MESOB-Products are natural, fascinating and aromatic spices, coffee and tea of exceptionally high quality from a land upon which the sun smiles. In addition you will find we stock an array of interesting articles which make eating and drinking coffee an original and joyful experience.

At the moment there are two TEAS in our collection which have generated a lot of interest and attention:

A natural and powerful Black Tea from the Ethiopian Highlands

which may be enjoyed black, with milk or with the addition of our tea spices providing one with a wonderful tasting cup of tea.

The quality of tea mainly depends on climatic conditions, the type of soil upon which the plant grows and the method of processing. In Ethiopia, tea is mostly grown in the highland dense forest regions where the land is fertile and thus the use of fertilizer is very minimal.

Moreover, the availability of abundant and cheap labour in the Country has made the use of manual weeding, instead of chemical weeding, possible. Because of this mostly organic cultivation, Ethiopian tea is increasingly sought for its aroma and natural flavours. This is confirmed by the "International Gold Star" award for quality recently given by B.D.I. in Madrid, Spain to one of the major Ethiopian tea exporters, Tea Production and Marketing Enterprise (from where we buy our tea).

The addition of the Tea Spices lets one feel that little bit closer to the Orient.

Our most popular tea at the moment, which looks like it will become a real trend is

Quti                    coffeeleaves.gif (11988 Byte)

It is either considered to be coffee by the out and out tea-drinker who will suffer no guilt as a result of flirtation with a friendly cup of Quti.
On the other hand, Quti may be looked upon as tea by the convinced coffee-drinker, they too will succumb to the charms of Quti.

Quti are coffee leaves from the east of Ethiopia, the source of Harar-Coffee. And also the place where this drink is very popular. Quti has a small caffein content of 0.76%. In comparison with Arabeca-Beans (like our Sidamo), which has an average of 1.2 % and Robusta-Beans which has an average of 2.3 % or more.

Contrary to normal tea which one must allow to draw, the full taste of Quti develops as a result of being boiled between 2 and 3 minutes (not longer, because then the Quti would become bitter!), before you let it drawing even for some hours. Right after boiling, at the beginning of the process, the tea is greenish-yellow and then develops up to a dark-red colour. It is fascinating to experience the particular taste associated with each stage.

Quti, the tea that pacifies the world of tea- and coffee-drinkers!
