Our Sheklas
| Sheklas are a
natural product made from fired clay which brings a fully unique aroma and tenderness to
your meat dish. In addition there is the creation of a very comfortable and relaxed mood.
Your guests will be amazed.
These clay receptacles (in the picture below left) may be either heated with charcoal or a spirit burner. Cooking on Sheklas impart to your vegetables, meat or fish dish a unique quality. Our Sheklas are hand-made by an experienced potter from Addis Ababa following an old traditional method and finally coated in a natural glaze. They are heavy-metal free (examined by the Cantonal Laboratory Aargau, Switzerland) |

| Recommendations for the usage of our Sheklas Sheklas are normally heated with charcoal, shich is placed in the lower compartment. Sheklas with a larger opening in the lower compartment are exclusively available from us. This facilitates the use of a spirit burner. | |||
| As soon as the charcoal begins to glow there is no further smoke being produced. This allows the preparation of the food to be carried out not only outside but also inside your living quarters on the dining room table a real sense of occasion. The use of Sheklas requires little use of oil in the cooking process when you start to work with them. Later on there is normally no more need of oil. They are particularly suited to meat or a meat/vegetable combination. Of course fantasy knows no bounds. Allow your creativity to take flight! By washing up it is the best to use no washing detergents, rather hot water as one would with an iron pan. |
